After not getting accepted as a freshman, I attendedJul 23 2008Economics
After not getting accepted as a freshman, I attended another university and built up my grades. I found it much easier to transfer in, considering I had already proven myself in a college academic environment. Plus, perseverance cannot hurt. I also was able to write more polished essays than before.

Not that difficult, 1350-1400 SAT scores, 3Jan 02 2008Unknown
Not that difficult, 1350-1400 SAT scores, 3.6+ GPA, and some decent extra curriculars, and you should be good.

Honestly, it's tough to get inFeb 22 2007Economics
Honestly, it's tough to get in. No matter how much of a shoe-in you think you are, there's never a guarantee. Vanderbilt is becoming such a popular school that admissions has the ability to take whoever they want due to the strength of each applicant pool. Being a legacy helps, as does having a sibling who attended or attends. But I think the main thing Vanderbilt looks for is outside of the SAT and GPA, although those are definitely important. I think admissions searchs for students who will thrive here; that is, they look for students who have already shown strength in both their academic and social lives.
Good gradeJan 14 2007Psychology
good grades, good SAT's, the usual, but also, diversity REALLY helps--beware though--that once you are here it is pretty segregated socially
SAT: 1320 Male
I gave that school two years and then INov 01 2006Business - Management and Administration
I gave that school two years and then I got out and I am glad I did. I made some good friends, but overall the people were really shallow and typical. No one seemed to really care about what they were learning, only about the grades. I would also never recommend the school to anyone black or jewish. Vandy is trying to get more diverse, but the old prejudices are all still there. I am at a smaller, more intellectual school now and feel I am getting SUCH a better education.
